WHY DON’T YOU PAINT FLOWERS?
A show by: Antonella Ferrari Silvia Forese Ellie Geary Joana Roberto Angela Wright
The title of this project is intended as a playful joke about some people’s frustration with understanding and engaging with contemporary art and their hope for a more traditional subject matter.
The artists challenge the question posed by the title, by offering exactly what is asked for – a more traditional subject matter, such as flowers, landscapes and everyday objects. But despite complying with the title’s request and offering a more understandable and familiar image to the audience, the works speak in a contemporary language and explore conceptual themes.
